Rescued by a Knight in Purple Gloss!

Rescued by a Knight in purple gloss…  wait what?  Well a White Knight can of gloss purple, read on and I’ll explain…

This old chair once lived in a dark dungeon… well actually the garage but who am I to get in the way of a good story. She had been hanging around for some time, ever so patiently and politely.  Actually a client for whom I did a couple of painting jobs gave it to me to “have some fun with it”.  As you can see her ruffle dress was a little outdated and her gold look, more than a little worn and shabby and not in anyway chic.  Whilst I am a fan of gold accents and they are quite on trend at the moment, this was not a good gold and had to go!

Lucky for this little princess her Knight had arrived in the form of a handsome can of purple spray paint 😉

I had received a basket of White Knight paint products to test out.  I’m not usually a purple fan but this was the colour I had to work with and well I kind of thought it suited this project to a T.  The colour is called Gloss Purple, I would describe it as a dusty purple, it’s actually a lovely subtle purple.

I love this spray paint from White Knight, firstly its called Squirts! 🙂 IMG_7471_EditedBut it doesn’t just have a cute name… it went on like a dream and gave excellent coverage.  It’s hard wearing, the range of colours are fabulous and it’s so easy to use. Love that. The trick to spray painting is to do many light layers, building up the coverage.  That way you’ll avoid any runs and drips and end up with a lovely finish.

I reupholstered the seat pad using a pretty linen floral fabric. Here she is rescued from her drab garage existence and ready for her debut….

This was a quick and easy transformation!  Have you a piece in your home that could use a new pop of colour?

A French Style Buffet… from drab to fab!

Hello Lovelies!

Today I’m sharing a project I completed recently.  This buffet was one I purchased almost a year ago, it’s been waiting patiently for it’s transformation. I was drawn to the lovely shape and character of this piece and it has lots of practical storage too…  always an added bonus!

Here’s the before pic….

before

I wanted a weathered French provincial style so I used Annie Sloan’s French Linen which is a lovely taupey grey colour, I applied layers and a lime wash with lots of sanding to achieve the finished look.

Surf’s up…. A Surfboard Coffee Table

Hello friends!

I had a bit of fun with this makeover…  as soon as I saw this old retro coffee table I knew just what I wanted to do with it!

Here’s a before pic, I had already started sanding and filling before I realised I had forgotten to snap a pic! 😉

After quite a bit of sanding and painting….  here’s what I ended up with!

Surf’s up baby 😉

I think it’ll look great in a beach house…. hopefully there’s someone out there looking for a surfboard coffee table!?!

Vintage Roll Top Desk Gets a Coastal Home Love Makeover!

Hello!

Is it really the end of March already?  How did that happen?
Lots of exciting things coming up this year, more on that later.  For now I thought I’d check back in and share a recent makeover…..

As soon as I saw this desk I knew it had so much potential,  it had unfortunately been chewed pretty thoroughly by a cheeky Labrador and it’s owner (the desk not the Lab), asked if I could help save it.  Um yep!!  Here’s a before pic, note the chewed features on all of the handles, legs and corners!

I loved transforming this old piece which was destined for the scrap heap before it was rescued by my client from a garage sale for the princely sum of $40!  A girl after my own vintage loving heart obviously saw the potential too!  …..And after much sanding, repairs, paint and love….  the afters!

My client couldn’t decided which knobs to use so we ended up deciding on an eclectic mix which I think really suits and adds even more character to this piece.  I have lots of gorgeous knobs available my website soon.
I really love all the storage in this old piece and kinda wished I could of kept this one…  of well hopefully I’ll stumble across one sometime!
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Ikea Hack – “Rast” Drawers Makeover!

Hello!

Gosh where has the last month gone?  Time flies when you’re having fun.  We are in the middle of planning our kitchen renovation.  In addition to the new kitchen we are replacing the entire floor in the back of the house and the back windows for French doors.  I’ll post some pictures of our kitchen reno when we finally start!

I’ve also been quite busy working away on a few projects.  This one was too much fun…  my first Ikea Hack!  A lovely client asked if I could give these little Rast Drawers a personality makeover 😉

Here’s the before, the Rast Drawers retail for $49.95.  It’s a super basic little piece…  which comes in the raw 😉

I started by adding some sweet moulding detail to the draw edges to add some much needed character.  This was sold in a 2 metre length and just fit in the car!

I stained the piece in a colour called Brazilian Roast, which I think gives it a nice depth and is a lovely contrast to the ASCP Old White on the drawer fronts.  After some distressing and waxing I added some gorgeous glass knobs to complete the makeover.

I really enjoyed this little makeover and my client has a one of a kind set of drawers that’s a little bit familiar! 😉

Happy Week!

Little Boy Blue…. A Cute Coastal Cupboard Makeover!

Hello lovely friends!

Gosh where have the last few weeks gone?  We’ve just finished school holidays here in Sydney, the kids returned on Tuesday.  It was nice to get some paint on my brush this week after a little break,  I’ve started a few new projects which I hope to share soon!  In the meantime I thought I’d share this cute little coastal blue utility cupboard that I finished just before the holidays.

We nicknamed him Little Boy Blue 😉  …the name popped into my head whilst I was painting and kind of stuck, the kids even asked where I was taking Little Boy Blue when I was loading him into the car for delivery!  He sold really quickly, he’s a versatile little chap and I can see him being quite handy in almost any room.

Thanks so much for stopping by… have a beautiful weekend!

Love,

Jo xx
